DIPTERIS
Dip.Te.Ris - University of Genova, Department of the Study of the Territory and its Resources

The department of the study of the territory and its resources (DIPTERIS) was born in 1999 by the fusion in the department of the Earth Sciences (which included the Institutes of Mineralogy, Petrography, Geology and Geophysics ) of the botanic institute, the environmental marine institute and the zoology institute; currently it is constituted by 80 teaching staff and about 60 technician and administrative staff.
DIPTERIS represents a unique structure in Italy for the complexity and variety of knowledge to analyse the territory. The study of the territorial reality represents the common base of cultural and scientific ideas, with all possibilities of base and applied research.
The research concerns mainly the study of earth sciences, biodiversity and marine ecology.
The research activities made by different groups involve national and international fields, in particular data processing of geological cartography in all its components (superficial water, stratum, soil…), the Antarctica project, the study of marine ecosystems with the research of biomarkers.
