Research and Innovation for the Sustainable Development of the Nation

ENEA is a public undertaking operating in the fields of research and innovation, with a view to promoting solutions aimed at enhancing development, competitiveness and employment, hile at the same time protecting the environment.

The Organisation is also entrusted with the task of seconding public administrations, especially by providing high-tech services in the fields of energy, environmental protection and technological innovation.
More specifically, as part of its expanded institutional role, ENEA is called upon:

During CoastGIS 2003, ENEA presents its programme of activities "Study and protection of the Mediterranean habitat and coasts".

Some posters show the researches undertaken by the ENEA's "Marine Environment Research Centre" in S. Teresa (La Spezia), such as the "Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM)" or the EU project "EUMAR" on the genetic biodiversity of the marine environment.
In the booth, other recent activities are also presented, such as the remote sensing technologies applied to the marine environment.

A video on Posidonia oceanica as an important environmental index is shown as well, while a Cd on the guidelines for the integrated coastal management, and another on the Geographic Information System are available.
