GISIG - Geographical Information Systems International Group
Gisig is a non profit Association operating in the field
of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), grouping almost 100 organisations
dealing with Geographical Information and territorial problems from more than
20 European Countries. This manifold partnership allows a trans-disciplinary
skill, focusing both the technical potentiality of GIS and their different
use in the application fields.
GISIG then represents a reference centre for common initiatives among GIS
operators and users, also acting through the promotion of European projects
and the establishment of thematic networks and national secretariats, these
last in charge for promoting and favouring projects and initiatives with a
wide local partnership.

Policy Studies
ICCOPS is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1992 in Genova,
Italy with the aim of:
Serving as a point of reference for groups and experts in coastal- and ocean-related studies
Carrying out research projects into all aspects of integrated coastal management
Furthering international networking with similar institutions
Promoting meetings to discuss current practices and future trends in sea use management
ICCOPS has got the observer status for the Mediterranean Action Plan of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP/MAP) and for the Commission on Sustainable Development of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC/CSD)
