ECO-GEOWATER Euro Workshop

GI and Natural hazards

The workshop will address the major issues of monitoring, predicting and mitigating the hazard related to hydro-geological catastrophic events (manly, flooding and landsliding) through innovative methods and techniques based on GIS technology.

During the workshop, experts in both the domain and the technology, will introduce and critically discuss:

1) the potentials and limitations of GIS-based methods for the identification, mapping, prediction and reduction of hazards and risks related to landslide and flood-induced catastrophes
2) relevant case studies where GIS techniques were thoroughly applied for assessing, predicting and mapping hydro-geological hazards.

The agenda of the workshop will cover in particular the following issues:

The workshop will be organised in lectures, seminars and demonstrations held at the spatial analysis laboratory of the Dipartimento di Scienze Geologiche e Geotecnologie, Universita’ degli Studi di Milano - Bicocca.
