The GI-INDEED Project

GI-INDEED (http://www.gisig.it/gi-indeed) is a project of the "Leonardo da Vinci II" European Programme dedicated to the training of territorial operators.
The project intends to offer a contribution to get out of the lack of knowledge on the use of geo-information, especially related to the implementation process of European Directives, at the different level of territorial government. In such a context, the project faces the issues linked to territorial data infrastructure and interperability, focussing the attention on the "Web-GIS" potentiality and related services.
The project refers to the INSPIRE proposal for a Directive on the management of environmental and territorial data.

Within the GI-INDEED project, four training modules are being developed:

• Environmental Web Services
• Data Harmonisation and Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI)
• Use of SDI for protected areas
• Use of SDI for coastal areas

In particular the present session will deal with:

• GI & training: the e-Learning platform
• Training module "Use of SDI for coastal areas"
• Use cases in SDI for coastal areas
