ICAM-GI & GI-CLAN: the Thematic Network development approach/GISIG meeting
Giorgio Saio
GISIG (IT)
The background of the thematic network approach in which ECO-IMAGINE is embedded is described, together with the policy chosen by the project to activate a better link between the coastal and the GI communities.
The concurrent initiatives of the Thematic Network ICAM-GI and its building progress and the respective links are then outlined with particular reference to the linkage with INSPIRE that lead to the registration of the Spatial Data Interest Community (SDIC) GI-CLAN "Geo-Information Community in Coastal LANdscape", the Leonardo da Vinci Project GI-INDEED "Geographic Information in the Implementation of Netbased Distance Education for Environmental Decision making", as well as the link with other European initiatives such as GMES with the HUMBOLDT project recently started.
The parallel development and links with other thematic networks promoted by the Association in complementary GI application domains, namely Nature protection and Water Resource management will be also introduced.
In particular, for the final part of ECO-IMAGINE some useful
support will be given by the possibility of a synergy with the GI-INDEED project,
which will be presented in a specific session within the Conference. The project
in fact will provide, among others, a training module about coastal management
and the development of use cases to which the ECO-IMAGINE Community is welcome
to participate.
