Integrated Coastal Zone Management: the Danish way

Per Søerensen

Kystdirektoratet/The Danish Coastal Authority (DK)

Denmark is a small country with a population of only 5 million people, but it has more than 7000 km coastline.
Most of the Danish coasts are exposed to a very mild wave climate, but the Danish North Sea coast is heavily exposed.

This gives a lot of challenges for the coastal managers in Denmark and furthermore are a large part of the coastline private property.
This lecture describes these challenges and describes how these are dealt with. There will be shown a lot of practical examples.
