The main goal of the course selector is to support students/trainees, teaching guides and organisations in selecting suitable courses for specified training needs. The selector is also used when designing new courses based on learning components.

The course selector is an application using the functions of a relational database, available to users teachers and administrators through a web based interfaces.  

The database contains metadata on the available learning components and courses.  Meta information is inserted into the database by the administrators and the teachers according to their different levels of access rights.  

The course is the product that is delivered to the user and is constituted by learning components.  It is organised into a learning path, generated by the course selector according to the inputs provided by the users.  The learning path is presented into a report as a new web page with functions of printing. Information for the users on terms of use, conditions of delivery and contacts for the specific learning components are included into the report.
