INSPIRE Conference 2012. Call for papers.

The INSPIRE Conference 2012 will be held in June 23-27, 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The theme of this year’s edition is “Sharing Environmental Information, Sharing Innovation”.

With the introduction of the INSPIRE Directive 2007/2, the policy landscape for sharing environmental information has changed drastically. The Commission Communication on the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS 2008) and follow-up activities at national and European levels have further helped to cultivate a new vision for a coordinated framework for the implementation and monitoring of environmental policies. The governance, content, and supporting technologies are the three pillars with which this vision can be consolidated and implemented.

The aim of this year’s INSPIRE Conference is therefore to look at how innovations in these three areas have further shaped the landscape of sharing environmental information. The technical program will feature keynote addresses, workshops, panels in addition to presentations and posters. The call for contributions reflects the three pillars: Governance, Content and Technologies. In particular, as 2012 is the European Year for Water, the ISPIRE Team is interested in receiving submissions relating to Water (Water Framework Directive, Plan Bleu, EEA Water Watch, Blue Carbon…).

  • March 2, 2012: Deadline for submitting paper and workshops proposals
  • March 16 2012: Deadline for submitting poster proposals

15th AGILE Conference, 24-27 April 2012, Avignon, France.

“Bridging the Geographic Information Sciences”

Fifteen years after the publication of “Geographic Information Research: Bridging the Atlantic”, edited by Max Craglia, one of the founders of AGILE, and Helen Couclelis from the NCGIA, you are invited to attend the 15th AGILE International Conference. As the bridges of Avignon and the Gard which have crossed the History, as the painter Van Gogh who travelled from the Netherlands to South of France, we shall try to emphasize the research in geoinformation science, geomatics and spatial analysis where different disciplines, epistemologies and scientific cultures meet.

On behalf of the AGILE council, we invite you to participate in the next AGILE International Conference on Geographic Information Science that will be held in Avignon, France.
