Thematic Networks
Thematic networks are promoted within GISIG partnership in order to create frameworks of common interest among the Associated Members and to establish linkages and partnership with various GIS applications domains, users groups and professional operators.
The establishment of the thematic networks is grounded on the following approach and objectives:
- To explore the complementarity between GIS and the thematic domains
- To promote the cooperation and the exchange of experience among universities, enterprises, Research Institutes, Local Bodies operating in GIS and in the thematic domains
- To establish partnership with interest groups of the thematic domains
- To exploit the use of GIS for…..
- To promote awareness and training activities
- To find out and classify Best Practice in GIS for…..

- To operate in technology transfer in GIS for……, towards SMEs and professional operators
- To promote and organise people mobility within the thematic network
- To diffuse and support the network activities towards the whole GISIG Association
- To promote the participation of the members of the thematic networks in the EU funded projects (i.e. Leonardo da Vinci, the VII Framework Programme, etc.)
